Welcome to ‘Our Simple Things’, a skincare brand steeped in faith, motherhood, and nature. Founded by sisters Julia and Melissa, our journey began with a personal need – Melissa’s Grounded Tallow Balm. After suffering from severe PUPPs rashes during her first two pregnancies, she created this balm out of necessity for her third pregnancy.
As a company made by moms for moms, we understand the challenges you face in finding safe, effective, and affordable skincare for your family. That’s why we’re committed to offering natural skincare solutions that utilize the ingredients God has provided us in nature.

Melissa and Julia, founders of Our Simple Things, are driven by a shared passion for natural skincare, affordable wellness, and empowering women. From a young age, the sisters were always creating homemade beauty remedies, a testament to their lifelong commitment towards healthier bodies through nature’s bounty. Today, their mission is to provide ingredient-conscious individuals with natural skincare solutions that don’t compromise on affordability or quality.
Despite geographical distances, Melissa and Julia remain tightly connected, their daily phone calls echoing the days they shared a room as children. The support from their two older sisters and the larger family has been instrumental in their journey, a blessing they attribute to God.
Their vision for Our Simple Things extends beyond skincare and into the realm of community and connection. They see their company as a platform to support and empower other women, especially those who juggle multiple roles just like them. They believe in sharing their experiences and learnings, hoping to inspire and uplift others facing similar challenges.

Did we decide to start a company when I was 9 months pregnant? Yes. Are we crazy? Perhaps. But crazy is sometimes what it takes to shake things up, and that’s exactly what we’re doing at Our Simple Things.
As a mother of three, I’m intimately familiar with the struggle of wanting to provide the best for your family without blowing your budget. It’s this understanding that fuels my passion for creating natural skincare products that are safe, effective, and affordable. Our products are crafted from natural ingredients that I trust to nourish my own family’s skin, and I am excited to share these with you.
I love gardening, making sourdough and sauerkraut, and being creative in the kitchen. This love for nature and nutrition and its miraculous offerings is reflected in every product we make. It’s truly amazing to witness the bounty that God has packed into our earth, and it’s a privilege to share that goodness with you through our products.
So yes, starting a company in my ninth month of pregnancy may have been a little crazy, but then again, sometimes it’s the ‘crazy’ ideas that turn out to be the most rewarding.
Julia
I’m Julia, a Texas girl who found her way to the beautiful landscapes of Colorado. I’ve always been that friend – the one with a crazy passion for all things natural and unconventional. I’m used to being a go-to person when you need advice on natural remedies and recipes.
My passion for making things from scratch bloomed after facing a few health challenges in college. I took a deep dive into everything I was doing that harmed my health. By God’s grace, I began to feel better and improve every day. I started throwing out food, products, and relationships that were keeping me from feeling better and have continued to do so since.
I won’t always claim to be perfectly healthy – life’s too unpredictable for that. But I give it my best shot with the resources at hand. Join me and my sister on this adventure of living healthy, embracing the unconventional, and enjoying some great products that will make positive changes in your life.
