This was never meant to be something I sold. Calendula Honey was a bar I made for my own family — a gentle, calming soap we used on our babies, our children, and our own dry or reactive skin. I brought a few to a market once, not thinking much of it. But it’s the one people kept coming back for.
At first, it was quiet — a message asking for more here or there from a mother or grandmother whose child had tried “everything” for eczema without relief. Then the messages became more regular. Many were saying it was the only soap that was working well for their little ones and themselves.
I hadn’t planned to keep making soap beyond my home. But this bar — this soft, creamy, honey-sweetened bar — is what changed that. It’s the reason I decided to keep offering soap, not just for my family but for others too.
Made with grass-fed tallow, water, lye, dried calendula flowers, and unfiltered honey, this bar is mild and soothing. Calendula has long been used to support irritated or inflamed skin, while honey, though no longer raw after saponification, lends softness and a humectant quality that stays with the finished bar.
We’ve used this soap on our own babies and children for years. It’s the bar I recommend most when someone tells me their child’s skin reacts to everything. There’s no added fragrance, no essential oils — just a gentle bar for everyday use on skin that needs something simple, something that doesn’t ask too much of it.
